Derby Spotlight: Improbable

It’s disgusting how loaded Bob Baffert is this year. Truly obscene. And to be in this kind of position to win another Kentucky Derby with yet another horse from WinStar and China Horse Club just a year after winning the Triple Crown for the same connections is really something.

That said, I have three reasons for keeping Improbable off of the top of my tickets.

They could have run around the Oaklawn track again in the Arkansas Derby, and Improbable was never going by Omaha Beach.

Jose Ortiz could have had the mount on this guy, and he chose Tacitus.

Being by City Zip, I don’t feel tremendously confident that Improbable will be at his best going 10 furlongs.

And if you want a fourth reason, the price won’t be great.

Improbable can definitely win the Kentucky Derby. There is no doubt about this. But I’l be using him underneath.

I think I have to agree here.Ortiz asked him for everything he possibly had in that stretch run.He also fought very hard the race before trying to hold off Long Range Toddy. Now a mile and a quarter. How many times can you go to the bottom of the well?He could bounce here and run off the board.
