Breeders’ Cup Contender Trip Alert: Pocket Dynamo
Allow me to direct your attention to the past performances for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint. Horse #12, Pocket Dynamo, and his most recent start in the Cornwallis Stakes at Newmarket on October 12th.
The winner that day was one of the favorites for this race, Sergei Prokofiev. And that one ran well, for sure. But Pocket Dynamo was completely bottled up for almost the entire race and eventually had to force his way through traffic by literally bumping his way through the field. He ended up 5th beaten 5 lengths, and the winner was the one to grab the headlines out of the race. But it was a deceptively good race for Pocket Dynamo.
I’d also like you to watch the replay of the Norfolk Stakes at Ascot back in June, which was won by another of this race’s favorites, Shang Shang Shang. You’ll notice that Pocket Dynamo, 2nd that day, ran very well late and darn near won the race. Another very strong effort. Additionally, it’s interesting to note that Joel Rosario, who rode Shang Shang Shang to victory over Pocket Dynamo in the Norfolk, ends up on the latter here. I never know what to make of jockey assignments, but it’s worth noting. Below is the reply of the Norfolk.
